Unrequited Love

•July 6, 2008 • 2 Comments

I was just wondering where did my interest for collage ( but somewhat waning now due to my course work)  came from, so i rummaged through all my previous paintings and handicrafts, which are left collecting dust in a box and found these!

TADA!

Basically, I tore strips of crepe paper and paste them on to from a picture. The usuals: red sun, trees and grass and flowers. This kind of tearing technique in collage is similar to what im doing nowf or course work. For course work, im tearing stripes of painted newspaper and pasting them on a canvas to form a picture. Sounds fun? When you are doing that for months, it tends to get a little tedious.

I got an A star for this, it is written at the back of the paper! My parents must have been so proud! haha. But honestly, this collage is the best among the rest because i had used black as a background colour for my butterfly and flower, so the colour paper tends to stand our from the rest of the pattern. The patterns of the pieces of paper also add to the overall appeal of this work.

This is quite simple, and involves a little bit of collage, since I had cut the coloured and textured paper and pasted the shapes onto a piece of paper before outlining the shapes with a black marker.

I think collage and me share an unrequited love, in the sense that i LOVE collage, because its easy, fun,and most of the time brainless. But collage don’t love me. it made things difficult for me because i had realised that it is actually quite hard to use collage as a medium to portray emotions and the human face and such.

Oh, collage! why don’t you love me back?!

NY Generation Magazine

I did a series of designs for NY Generation Magazine using adobe photoshop. My somewhat limited skills at using adobe photoshop have all gone rusty since my last assignment in Sec 2 for IT class. So it took me 4 hours to do these!

409 class tee design

409 class tee design

Class tee design done by me, Suzie and HuiSuan. It’s supposed to be of things that everyone in our class likes. I drew some of them (like the book, sports shoes, guitar, cat, piano keyboard, er hu and cram cream pig). But our class tee is “illegal” cos there are trademarks such as the macDonalds logo and Winnie the Pooh. Don’t ask me who is the 害群之马 who spoilt the whole design…cos it is me!! I’m so guilty. I purposely asked HuiSuan to draw something related to MacDonlad’s cos i thought the logo is easiest thing to draw. My intention is good, ok! Just that I ended up making the whole class tee illegal and now we can’t even wear it. SORRY

Since it is an illegal class tee design,is it still counted as a design?
